I was looking through my recent visitors tonight, and found this new search engine catalouging my site. I decided to look into them and see what they were all about. They are considered a stealthy search engine, and have not opened to the public just yet. I will be contacting them to see if they will allow me to have access to their services to see what they are all about. I have found some information about them on certain websites on the internet. They have raised over 20Million dollars to get their company started, this means they have a big server farm to back their new search engine. That have been around since 2007 or so and are using the Netscape platform and built off of that to make their own platform.

Website: blekko.com
Location: Redwood Shores, California, United States
Founded: June 1, 2007
Funding: $20M

Blekko is a search company founded by Rich Skrenta and his core team from previous company Topix and Netscape’s Open Directory. Blekko was founded halfway through 2007 and has already earned itself an angel round from Baseline Ventures and two ex-Googlers. They have been hiring alot recently, so this means that their staffing probably have grown with more ex-Googlers by now.
