How to get started in Social Media
I have been thinking about this alot lately, what is the best way to get into social media and actually make money with it? But can you really make money with social media? The answer is yes and no, I will be explaining in this post what you can do to promote your brand image.
As I see it, Social Media can be broken down into 3 differenct catagories.
- Blogs
- Micro Blogs
- Video Blogs
All 3 of these categories have one thing in common. They all circle around the blogs, the definition of blogs from wikipedia.
“A blog (a contraction of the term “web log“) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.”
There are many of reason’s to create an image for your company or website in the world of social media, either it be for advertising, customer support or just simply for research. Just think about how you reply to your potential clients, and always be careful of what you say on the internet, once something is tweeted or posted it will never be erased. With sites like Google, Yahoo and Bing always patrolling the internet for the latest data, it is bound to be picked up and recycled rather quickly.
By creating and maintaining a blog, to socialize your business or brand image is the newest thing in the business world. Companies like Comcast, Best Buy, Southwest Airlines and Taco Bell have all embraced the social media platform to help their clients, not to make money from social media.
Another thing to keep in mind while you are creating your brand image on the internet, do not harrass your followers with constant bombardments about things that are going on with your company for example.
- Just posting your website address as a status update.
- Following people and then blasting them with an advertisement via Direct Message.
You just have to keep in mind, that the client can always unfollow you and then you will lose out on the oppurtunity of keeping them in touch with your brand.
